The BMW Sports Activity Vehicle® has long been a more refined way to drive. In this car comparison, we want to give drivers in the Canonsburg, Pittsburgh, and Uniontown, PA, and Morgantown, WV, areas a closer look at two popular SAV®s: the BMW X1 and X3.

See their similarities and differences before you buy or lease! As you study up on the specs, you'll have a clearer picture of which luxury SUV suits your driving style. To learn more or set up a test drive, contact us at Bobby Rahal BMW of South Hills!

Battle of the SAV®s: Interior

The BMW X3 and BMW X1 are both luxury crossover vehicles, but they occupy different segments. The former is a compact SUV, while the latter is an even smaller subcompact SUV. While both seat up to five people, the dimensions inside differ.

You'll see a bit more cargo space in the larger X3, though. With the rear seats folded, you'll have room for 62.7 cubic feet of cargo. Still, the X1 is no slouch in this area: In the same configuration, it offers up to 58.7 cubic feet of storage space.

Generous headroom and legroom let passengers sit comfortably in the backseats of both vehicles. The BMW X1 provides 41.9 inches of headroom and 40.4 inches of legroom for front passengers. The BMW X3 has 41.1 inches of headroom and 40.3 inches of legroom for front passengers. The major difference here is cargo space-you'll need to decide how much room you need for your gear.

All-Star BMW Performance

With BMW, you can always expect top-notch performance. As you engage the throttle of the BMW X3 or X1, you'll find that to be the case here, too. Both run standardly on 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engines.

The engine in the X3 serves up 248 horsepower, perfect for a livelier drive around town. Go from 0 to 60 MPH in as little as 6 seconds flat! The BMW X1 engine cranks out 228 horsepower and puts in a great showing on the roads of Canonsburg and Uniontown.

For your road trips, the smaller BMW X1 has the efficiency you need! Take on the open roads with up to 33 highway MPG, per EPA estimates. The BMW X3 clocks in with a respectable 29 highway MPG.

BMW Technology Features

When it comes to connectivity, the BMW X3 and BMW X1 put in strong showings. You'll have everything you need with a standard iDrive infotainment system at your fingertips. The wide touchscreens are easy to use and will keep you plugged in to your favorite features.

Both vehicles offer Apple CarPlay®, a more intuitive way to use your iPhone. Just connect your phone and access your favorite apps from the road. You can make calls, send texts, or even change appointments on your calendar. You can also access your favorite music, streaming, and shows while you are on the go, enhancing the entertainment quality of your ride.

Wireless charging is also available. Keep your phone's battery at full health for the ride ahead, all without the hassle of cords. It will be ready to go when you reach your destination!
