BMW X7 Engine Specs
The BMW X7 gives drivers three different powertrains to choose from:
2020 BMW X7 Engine Specs Quick Facts |
Engine | 3.0L TwinPower Turbo I6 | 4.4L TwinPower Turbo V8 | 4.4L BMW M Performance TwinPower Turbo V8 |
Horsepower | 335 horsepower | 456 horsepower | 523 horsepower |
MPG | 20 city/25 highway MPG | 15 city/21 highway MPG | 15 city/21 highway MPG |
Acceleration (0-60 MPH) | 5.8 seconds | 5.2 seconds | 4.5 seconds |
Transmission | 8-speed automatic | 8-speed automatic | 8-speed automatic |
As you can see, each powertrain gives you slightly different specs, however they all come with the 8-speed STEPTRONIC Automatic transmission with Sport and Manual shift modes.
They also all include the xDrive all-wheel drive system. xDrive is a smart system that automatically and continually adjusts torque distribution based on your terrain to maximize traction control in a variety of conditions.

Aside from that, the three powertrain options deliver their own spin on the BMW X7. The 3.0L TwinPower Turbo I6 engine, for example, hits the ground running with a horsepower output of 335 and 330 lb-ft of torque production.
Despite its exciting output, this powertrain still gets an EPA-estimated 20 city/25 highway MPG.
For the sportiest drive, you can equip your SAV® with the 4.4L BMW M Performance TwinPower Turbo V8 engine. This gets 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, and it goes from 0-60 MPH in just 4.5 seconds under ideal conditions.
BMW X7 Dimensions: Interior and Exterior Specs
Now, let's focus our specs review on this vehicle's dimensions. See below for a quick overview:
- Length: 203.3 inches
- Width: 78.7 inches
- Driver headroom: 41.9 inches
- Driver legroom: 39.8 inches
- Cargo volume: 90.4 cubic feet
The BMW X7 is a 3-row SAV® that has enough seating for up to seven people. That's plenty of space whether you're carpooling the kids to baseball practice or heading into the city with your friends to see a show.
As the driver, you'll have more than 41 inches of headroom and almost 40 inches of legroom, so go ahead and stretch out and get comfortable. Plus, if you find a great new piece of furniture at the auction house or antique shop, you can fold down both rear rows. This will open up your cargo space to its full 90.4-cubic-foot capacity.
If you need to parallel park your BMW X7, the 78.7 inches in width is compact enough to help you do so with relative ease.
